On April 6, Chonbuk University joined the Korea Food Research Institute (한국식품연구원) and four county governments in North Jeolla province, including Wanju, Imsil, Buan, and Sunchang in signing an agreement to cooperate with one another in promoting the expansion of the fermented food market. Those institutions consented to collaborate on large-scale projects on the development of fermented foods such as red pepper paste, soybean paste, cheese, and salted fish while sharing research personnel and equipment. They are expected to strengthen competitiveness of fermented food dishes produced in the Jeonbuk area, throughout the nation and in the world as well.
